Diœcesis Sciiamchiamensis in Sinæ atque Societatis Sancti Iustini Martyris in Anglia, in testimonium professionis eius Fidei Catholicæ, devotionis eius erga Sacram Liturgiam, atque æstimationis quam erga antiquas traditiones et hereditatem Ecclesiæ Catholicæ Romanæ gerit, excogitarentur atque stabilirentur;
NUNC IGITUR NOTUM SIT Arma infra descripta ad eius usum et representationem assignata atque stabilita esse, videlicet:
ARMA: Cæruleum, Sol splendens aureus et Luna argentea, utrumque figuratum, supra Agnum Dei proprium cruciferum. SUSTENTATORES: A dextris, Pelicanus proprius in pietate sua; a sinistris, Aquila propria, uterque super basi convenienti dispositus. DEVISE: Ex Umbris et Imaginibus in Veritatem.
Pelicanus Christum et Sanctissimam Eucharistiam significat, dum Aquila, quæ Sancto Ioanni Evangelistæ more tradito associatur, contemplationem, sapientiam atque Divinam Veritatem significat. Sol et Luna lucem et tenebras repraesentant, necnon iter ab umbris ad Veritatem. Agnus Dei Christum, Agnum Dei, Sacrificium eius atque præsentiam eius Eucharisticam repraesentat. Biretum Sinicum et Crux traditionem ecclesiasticam Catholicam in Sinis atque servitium Ecclesiæ et Sacræ Liturgiæ significant. Arma universa iter christianum ab umbris et imaginibus ad Veritatem exprimunt, Christo tamquam Luce et plenitudine omnium rerum.

WHEREAS it hath been desired that Arms should be devised and established for

Of the Diocese of Hong Kong in China and the Society of St. Justin Martyr in England, in testimony of his profession of the Catholic Faith, his devotion to the Sacred Liturgy, and his esteem for the ancient traditions and heritage of the Roman Catholic Church;
NOW KNOW YE, that the Arms hereinafter described are assigned and established for his use and representation, namely:
ARMS: Azure, a Sun in splendour and a Moon argent, both figured, above an Agnus Dei proper bearing a Cross-staff. SUPPORTERS: On the dexter, a Pelican proper in her piety; on the sinister, an Eagle proper, each displayed upon a suitable mount. MOTTO: Ex Umbris et Imaginibus in Veritatem “From Shadows and Images into Truth.”
The Pelican signifies Christ and the Holy Eucharist, whilst the Eagle, traditionally associated with St John the Evangelist, signifies contemplation, wisdom, and Divine Truth. The Sun and Moon represent light and darkness, and the journey from shadows towards Truth. The Agnus Dei represents Christ, the Lamb of God, His Sacrifice, and His Eucharistic presence. The Chinese biretta and Cross signify the Catholic ecclesiastical tradition in China and service to the Church and the Sacred Liturgy. The Arms as a whole express the Christian journey from shadows and images unto Truth, with Christ as the Light and fulfilment of all things.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF this Certificate is prepared and set forth in testimony of the Arms herein described and depicted.
