Recent discussions concerning the Society of St. Pius X have once again brought the subject into the spotlight. As a result, some people mistakenly assume that all Traditionalist Roman Catholics are Sedevacantists, when in reality the term encompasses a range of individuals and communities with differing canonical and ecclesial situations.

In light of the many articles and discussions surrounding these developments, I have chosen not to offer my own opinions or commentary on the matter.

Instead, I would like to take this opportunity to reflect on what it means to be a Traditionalist Roman Catholic in full communion with the Holy See and the Supreme Roman Pontiff, and why the Church’s sacred liturgy, traditions, and spiritual heritage continue to inspire my faith and apostolate.

I believe it is important, now more than ever, to explain what being as a Traditionalist Roman Catholic means to me.

I am a young Traditionalist Roman Catholic, originally from Hong Kong and currently living in Walsingham, Norfolk, in the United Kingdom. My love for the Catholic faith is rooted in Sacred Scripture, Sacred Tradition, and the living Magisterium of the Church. My desire is not to live in the past, but to preserve and hand on the treasures of our Catholic heritage for future generations.

Most importantly, I am in full communion with the Holy See and the current Supreme Pontiff. My attachment to the Church’s liturgical traditions is inseparable from my fidelity to the Successor of St. Peter and the bishops in communion with him. Tradition and communion are not opposing principles — they belong together. Authentic Catholic tradition is always lived within the visible unity of the Church.

As some you might know, for more than a decade, I have had the privilege of serving at the altar as an Acolyte and Master of Ceremonies in Hong Kong, Macau, and the United Kingdom. This ministry has allowed me to assist at countless celebrations of the Holy Mass and other sacred liturgical ceremonies.

The sacred liturgy is the heart of the Church’s life. Through its beauty, reverence, and solemnity, the faithful are drawn more deeply into the mystery of Christ’s sacrifice. Whether celebrated according to the Ordinary Form or the Traditional Latin Mass where it is lawfully offered, every valid celebration of the Holy Eucharist is the same Sacrifice of Calvary made present on the altar.

My particular interest lies in the liturgical traditions of the Latin Church, especially the history and ceremonial development of the Roman Rite. I enjoy studying the rubrics, ceremonial customs, ecclesiastical vestments, sacred art, and the rich spiritual heritage that have shaped Catholic worship throughout the centuries.

Being a traditional Catholic does not mean rejecting legitimate authority or separating oneself from the life of the Church. Rather, it means embracing the Church’s rich patrimony with humility, obedience, and charity.

I firmly believe that authentic renewal is achieved through continuity with the Church’s tradition. The Catholic faith is not reinvented by each generation; it is faithfully received, lived, and handed on. As Pope Benedict XVI often reminded the faithful, there is a “hermeneutic of continuity” rather than a rupture in the life of the Church.

My commitment is therefore to remain faithful to the teachings of the Catholic Church, to pray for the Holy Father, and to support the unity of the Church while appreciating the spiritual riches that have nourished countless saints throughout history.

Also, living in Walsingham, England’s Nazareth, has deepened my devotion to Our Lady and strengthened my appreciation for England’s rich Catholic heritage.

Walsingham is a sacred place of prayer, pilgrimage, and conversion. It reminds me that every Christian journey ultimately leads us closer to Christ through His Blessed Mother.

Whether serving at the altar, praying before the Blessed Sacrament, or welcoming pilgrims from around the world, I strive to place Christ at the centre of everything I do.

Above all, I remain committed to living as a faithful son of the Roman Catholic Church — a Traditionalist Roman Catholic in full communion with Rome and the current Supreme Pontiff — seeking to serve Christ, His Church, and His people with fidelity, humility, and charity.

My journey as a Catholic continues to unfold. There is always more to learn, more to serve, and more opportunities to witness to the Gospel.

I pray that my work, both online and in person, may encourage others to discover the beauty of the Catholic faith, the reverence of the sacred liturgy, and the enduring wisdom of the Church’s traditions.

Allow me to conclude my article with quote from St. Ambrose:

“Ubi Petrus, ibi Ecclesia.” — Where Peter is, there is the Church.

My mission is to share the beauty of the Catholic faith through its sacred liturgy, traditions, and history.
